3rd Scientific Symposium on Autotrophic Microorganisms in memory
of Academician Elena N. Kondratieva, an outstanding
Russian microbiologist, will be held at the Moscow State University
on 21-24 December.

All-Russian School-Conference for Young Scientists “Important
Aspects of Modern Microbiology” which was organized under
the aegis of the International Russian Microbiological Society
took place on 10-3 November at the Winogradsky
Institute of Microbiology RAS. Young scientists from 24
scientific institutions from 15 cities of Russian
and Belarus participated in the Conference which consisted of
3 sessions:

diversity,
ecology and geochemical activity of microorganisms;

molecular biology, genetics, and genomics of microorganisms
and bacteriophages;

17th, 2005, Prof. Peter Raspor, FEMS Secretary General, visited
the Interregional Microbiological Society with the aim to become
acquainted with the IMS’ activities and discuss the possibilities
for cooperation between the Society and the Federation.
